Group life is a simple benefit and it is normally written in conjunction with group health but can stand- alone. If your company has no benefits currently, group life may be a place to start with minimal cost to the employer/business.
Group life can be written with the equal benefit for all employees, which appears to be the most common. Another option is percentage of salary or multiple of salary. Still another choice is to establish classes of employees (owners, managers, & labor) and each class of employee gets the amount of coverage that is chosen by the employer
